BIG NEWS FROM THE POOL
By: Rick Burton - Mar. 12, 2008
Time Trial at YMCA tonight for the Senior and Gold swimmers brought some
AMAZING results
Congrats to Olivia Cook - who broke the Alberta Record in the girls
13/14 50 free. New record time of 26.47 breaks the old mark of 26.67
set in 2000 by Alexandra Lys (Olympic Team 2004). This time is also
rated in Swim Alberta's Youth Recognition Program as #1 in Canada
Another Big Congrats to Danielle Newton whose time in the 50 free
(26.93) qualifies her for Olympic Trials. She will now join Olivia at
the event.
Her time also adds her to the Youth Recognition program (top 25)
Taylor Beaudry also made a big splash with her 1:10.04 in the 100 back.
She now has made her first ever Age Group National qualifying time.
Sister Jazmin also came away with a Youth Recognition time standard in
her 100 fly swim. Her finish time fell shy of an Olympic Trials
qualifying standard by 0.06 sec (yes that is 6/100 of a second) A great
swim none the less.
Many great swims from a number of people
Full results will be posted on bulletin board soon
