Age Group Trials Report

Wow what a spectacular weekend we had at Age Group Trials. We traveled down with 11 Swimmers that were eager to challenge their best times and other athletes they competed against! The spirits were so high and the kids were pumped!

Mackenzie Young our youngest swimmer we took at age 9 swam amazing. She received 3 Silver and 1 bronze medal, competing in her first Age Group Trials. She was very determined to get an A time and Stand on that podium. I wish we could all keep that sense of sprit and confidence throughout every age. Great Job Mackenzie and Good luck at A’s.

Kendra Hobenshield made 3 final swims and was also swimming in her first B championship meet. She made all best times and had a spectacular swim in her 200 Back with a time of 255.94. Qualifying her for A’s as well! Good luck Kendra!

Harleigh Puga, even after a couple weeks of holidays came into B’s with a ready to go attitude! She put a huge effort forth getting all best times in every event. The hardest swim out there being the 400IM she swam very well, being a second Alternate! Great Job Harleigh

Lochlan Weavers made 2 finals at his first showing at B’s as well! All best times for Lochlan including placing 8th in 200 FREE with a best time of 251.24 and also placing 10th in his 200 Back. Awsome Job Lochlan!

Erin Wells took off huge time in every event she swam! Erin took off a wopping 4 seconds in her 100 Back and is working closer to that A time! Her best event out of them all though was the brutal 400IM test of endurance and skill, although she was DQed in this event she took off 23 seconds, clocking in at 705. The officiating at the B’s was very serious, and let many swimmers know that they have to be right on with their skills, strokes, legal turns and No Moving on the Blocks! Erin stayed strong and she will work hard to now work towards and even better swim next time and no DQ and she knows she will also make a final swim!

Great Effort by the Bronze swimmers I am proud of the effort and team spirit throughout the weekend! I look forward to seeing what you can accomplish by the end of the season!!!

What a fantastic meet we had at  Alberta Age Group Trials (Bs) this past weekend -  WOW !  Everyone had awesome best times and FMSC swimmers were standing proud on the podium time after time from our youngest little swimmer McKenzie (9) right up to our oldest swimmer Chris (14) and all those in between it seemed we never stopped cheering and applauding for the whole team. Swimmers, parents and coaches alike were all in great spirits and the weekend was successful on many levels!??

Here are the highlights for each one of our silver group swimmers :??

GIRLS??

Jordan Dunn - 5 Gold medals and best time swims in 200 IM; 50-100-200 Breast; 50 free. Not only did she achieve A times but also made her Age Group National qualifying times in the 100m breaststroke! Jordan is now ranked in the top 10 for 14 year ‘s girls in Alberta!

??Rayna Daly  - Placed 6th in the final of the 200 breast and swam seasonal best times in all her breast events; 200IM and 50 fly. Rayna showed us that she is back to form and is set for a great long course season.??

Breena Rusnell - Despite a recently broken foot which kept her out of training for a while she still swam to a bronze medal finish in the 50 free as well as dropping 8 seconds on her 100 breaststroke time and best time swims in 200IM and 50 fly. She also anchored the girls 4 x 50 relay team pulling off a stunning swim that moved our team from 5th place into a bronze medal finish!??

BOYS??

Chris Thorne - 3 Gold medals in the 50/100/200 freestyle and big best times in the 100 breast and 50 fly. Chris also earned his A time in the freestyle as he proved his dominance in that stroke !

??Angus Bagnall - Gold medal in the 200 IM in one of the most gutsy swims I have seen, making his A time by 4 seconds. This swim also puts him in the top ten for 12 year old boys in Alberta! He also earned a Silver medal and his A time in the 50 Backstroke and a Bronze in the 200 free.??

Mitchell Mulhall - 100% best times in all his events and he made finals in 100 IM (4th place); 50 Back (6th place) and 100 back (7th place). Mitchell has shown huge improvements this season and has shown us a glimpse of what he can do this year!? ?

Congratulations to you all on a very successful meet and our thanks to our chaperone Lisa Bagnall !?
