Meet Summary - Blue Bears

MEET WRITE UP – BLUE BEARS – JANUARY 13 – 15 2012

The first meet of 2012 was the Blue Bears in Edmonton and this year we had 24 swimmers take part.
Yet again we had some excellent swimming times despite the fact that this meet is very much a ‘working meet’ and the swimmers are usually swimming tired at this part of the season as we have been building mileage in the pool in preparation for the Provincial Championship meets at the end of the SC season. We saw some really big drops in the 800m events and our own Angus Bagnall (Gold) and Madison Bodnar (Silver) walked away with the awards for most improved times in these events – congratulations to you both.

First time A qualifier, Alicia Nash (Silver) had an incredible weekend in the pool. She swam her way to Provincials by making her 12 year old A time in the 800 free.

Multiple new A times for Hannah Bergman and Emily Cyr as well as a new Age Group National time for Angus Bagnall in the 100 breast.

12 year old Robert Cornea also had a very good weekend qualifying for his 13 year old B time in the 200 breaststroke and Kennedy Bince swam her way to a slew of new B times in the higher 14 year old age group.

Our Ten and Unders shone this weekend with best time swims across the board. The relay team of Madison Foy, Hannah Bergman, Emily Cyr and Katherine Wilson were outstanding and had us all on our feet as they claimed the Gold in both the freestyle and the medley relay events !
